MR MICHAEL WARRINGTON – CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Michael Warrington is a Certified Public Accountant and a Fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants, as well as an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in the United Kingdom. Mr Warrington holds a Masters Degree in Financial Services from the University of Malta.
Mr Warrington is a director of AX Investments plc and of Forthnet SA and is also the C.E.O of AX Holdings Limited.
He has held various board positions with Public listed companies in Malta and overseas as well as a number of private entities and family owned companies.
MS CLAIRE ZAMMIT XUEREB – GROUP HOSPITALITY DIRECTOR
Claire Zammit Xuereb is our Group Hospitality Director within the AX Group. She oversees the hospitality division of the group including the five properties managed by AX Hotels, namely The Palace, Palazzo Capua, The Victoria Hotel, The Seashells Resort at Suncrest and Sunny Coast Resort & Spa and their catering establishments, together with the Tal-Kaptan restaurants, Qawra and Valletta Waterfront. She held various positions within the Group including that of General Manager of The Palace & The Victoria Hotel, and has had vast exposure in the local industry as a whole.
Claire was an MHRA treasurer between 2005 and 2008. She served as President for the 4 star sector in the subsequent years. Claire was also appointed Chairman of I.T.S. during 2010. Today she forms part of a number of boards within the Malta Community Chest Fund, all on voluntary basis. Claire is a graduate from the prestigious Centre International de Glion in Switzerland with a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management and also graduated from the University of Wales with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in International Hospitality Management. Claire has consequently had the advantage of working overseas, primarily in London as well as a taste of the cruise business.
MS DENISE XUEREB – GROUP CONSTRUCTION DIRECTOR
After completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Management from the University of Malta, Ms Denise Xuereb joined the AX Construction’s team during the construction and finishing of Five-Star The Palace Hotel in Sliema.
Having caught the project management bug during this hands-on experience, Denise pursued her studies further by embarking on a Masters of Science programme specialising in Programme and Project Management at the Ecole Superieure de Commerce in Paris.
Since coming back to Malta, Denise has been busy managing the projects for the construction of the new Parliament Building in Valletta, the Hilltop retirement village in Naxxar, the restoration of various bastions in Valletta and Birgu, together with a number of other multidisciplinary projects. She currently holds the position of Construction Director at AX Construction and oversees the efficient management of the construction division within AX Holdings.
MR CHRIS PARIS – EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Chris Paris’ involvement in construction dates back some forty years, he started as a draughtsperson with MaltConsult international and promoted to Architectural Design leader engaged on a number of foreign prestigious projects. Since then he was engaged with other international architectural establishments including Richard England and Partners Ltd. His involvement in the local scene varies from design work to site management, particularly in the hospitality industry on various hotel projects. In 2001 he was engaged with VISET plc with the responsibility for the development of the cruise port project taking up the role and responsibility of General Manger after the completion of the project development.
In 2009 he joined the Grand Harbour Rehabilitation Corporation as CEO to oversee a number of projects related to the rehabilitation of Valletta, one of which was the City Gate Project. He served for 4 years as Deputy Chairman of Malta Industrial Parks.
In January 2015 he was nominated as Director of AX Holdings and is currently engaged in overseeing the group’s projects development.
DR DAVID WAIN – GROUP LAWYER AX HOLDINGS
Dr. David Wain is in-house counsel for the AX Holdings Group, providing the directors and management with strategic and operational legal advice, and dealing with all legal aspects of the AX Group’s function.
He furthermore contributes to the development of Group policies, procedures and controls and represents the Group in arbitration proceedings and cases before the Maltese courts.
Dr. Wain graduated with a Doctor of Laws degree in 2002, and was admitted to the Bar in 2003. He has also completed a Masters degree in Business Administration with the University of Leicester, UK.
MR ALBERT BONELLO – CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER AX HOLDINGS
Albert Bonello is a Certified Public Accountant and is primarily responsible for the accounting and finance function.
Albert’s career started in the banking industry during which he obtained the Malta Institute of Accountants/ACCA degree. He joined the AX Group in 2007 in the role of Financial Controller. He moved to his current position in late 2016.
MS CHARMAINE MONSEIGNEUR – HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER AX HOLDINGS
Ms Charmaine Monseigneur was appointed Human Resources and Administration Manager on 5 December 2016. Her remit is AX Holdings, AX Construction and Quayside Catering.
Charmaine’s work experience includes 19 years with various public entities and working her way up she was involved in the set-up of new public entities, their administration and HR, public procurement and tendering processes. She has completed a Masters degree in Business Administration with the University of Leicester, UK, specialising in Employees’ Relations.
MR LAWRENCE DEGABRIELE – GROUP IT MANAGER AX HOLDINGS
Mr. Lawrence Degabriele is an experienced IT professional possessing 12 years’ experience in senior IT Administration roles in major ICT Companies and ISO certified operations. His professional strengths include technical management, information analysis and computer hardware/software systems.
Mr. Degabriele originally joined the AX Group in the role of IT Manager at the Suncrest Hotel in 2008 and over the years climbed the corporate ladder to the position he holds today, where he has overall responsibility for the management and development of the Group’s Corporate IT infrastructure.
MS CAROLINE SCHEMBRI – PA TO THE CHAIRMAN / MANAGER ADMINISTRATION
Ms Caroline Schembri joined the company in 1987 after gaining experience in the Electronics and Hospitality industries.
Her long-standing service with the Group has made her a point of reference in the Head Office. She has seen the company growing and branching out and is always excited to be part of a new project, and seeing it materialise. She is proud to assist a Chairman who has great vision and whose projects are one of a kind, such as The Hilltop Gardens Retirement Village, which is one of her favourite projects to date.
Caroline has gained a wealth of experience over the years, and her duties have been wide and varied. She enjoys taking on new challenges and being part of such a dynamic Team.
MS CHARMAINE ATTARD – GENERAL MANAGER, HILLTOP GARDENS
Ms Charmaine Attard joined Hilltop Gardens as Director of Care in the planning stage, before the Village became operational in December 2015. In 2017, she was promoted to General Manager of Hilltop Gardens.
Ms Attard is a nurse by profession and has worked in management in a variety of both private and public sectors. She also teaches nursing at the Faculty of Health Sciences within the University of Malta.
Ms Attard possesses a Masters in Nursing with the University of Manchester and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration with the University of Leicester.
MR KEVIN CALLUS – GENERAL MANAGER, SLIEMA HOTELS
Mr Kevin Callus joined The Victoria Hotel in 2001 gaining experience in various departments and working his way up to the position he currently holds since 2009.
He is now responsible for overseeing the operation of the three Sliema group properties, the 5 star hotel The Palace, 4 star The Victoria Hotel and the 200 year old Palazzo Capua, ensuring an effective and efficient performance of these properties together with an optimal level of guest and employee satisfaction.
MR JOSEPH VELLA – GENERAL MANAGER, QAWRA HOTELS
Mr Joseph Vella was appointed General Manager of Seashells Resort at Suncrest in April 2009; following twelve years experience in senior posts in major hotel resorts in Malta.
He was responsible to coordinate the €7 million refurbishment project which included all 452 rooms within the hotel in a record five months and is responsible for overseeing the operation of the hotel; recently opened Cheeky Monkey Gastro Pub and Luzzu Complex.
MR MATTHEW GINGELL LITTLEJOHN – GENERAL MANAGER, VALLETTA HOTELS
Mr. Gingell Littlejohn is not a new comer to the company. After he graduated from ITS and having worked within the hospitality industry, he joined the group in 2015 as a Front Office Manager at the Seashells Resort where later, was appointed as Operations Manager for the Sunny Coast Resort.
He will be responsible for overseeing the operation of The Saint John – a smart boutique hotel and Palazzo Merkanti, a 5 star luxury baroque style 17th century old building.
